Founded in 1976, the East Anglian Film Archive (EAFA) was the UK’s first regional film archive. From its pioneering roots it has evolved into the accredited regional film archive for the East of England under the National Archives accreditation scheme, putting it in the top 5% of archives in the UK. The East Anglian Film Archive licenses its collections for a range of uses including broadcast.
Our collections include thousands of films and television programmes from 1896 to the present day, reflecting the six counties of the East of England region – Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The collections are mostly non-fiction material such as advertising films, corporate videos, documentaries, home movies and travelogues. These include unique collections from Anglia Television, BBC East, regional artist filmmaker cooperatives, and the internationally significant Institute of Amateur Cinematographers collection.
The East Anglian Film Archive has been owned and operated by the University of East Anglia since 1984.
