Academy Award Winner, Jessie Buckley becomes a Patron of Norfolk Screen

Norfolk Screen is delighted to announce that Jessie Buckley, has become our newest patron. An Academy Award, Actor Award, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award winner, Jessie brings extraordinary creative pedigree and a personal connection to the region.

She made her starring debut in Michael Pearce’s BAFTA‑nominated Beast (2018), earning breakout acclaim including the BIFA “Most Promising Newcomer” and the Critics’ Circle Award for “Best British or Irish Actress.” Since then, she has built a remarkable body of work across film, television, and theatre. Her career includes an Academy Award nomination for The Lost Daughter, an Olivier Award win for Cabaret, and acclaimed performances in Men, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Fargo, Chernobyl, and Wild Rose, the latter earning her BAFTA and BIFA Best Actress nominations.

Most recently, she starred as Agnes Shakespeare opposite Paul Mescal in Chloé Zhao’s Golden Globe winning adaptation of Hamnet, a performance that earned her an Academy Award, Actor Award, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award. She appears alongside Christian Bale in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! and will soon be seen in Three Incestuous Sisters with Dakota Johnson, Saoirse Ronan, and Josh O’Connor. Her additional screen credits include Women Talking, Judy, The Courier, War & Peace, Taboo, The Last Post, and The Woman in White.

Alongside her screen work, she has an impressive stage career. She starred as Perdita in The Winter’s Tale and Muriel in Harlequinade for the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company, played Miranda in Jeremy Herrin’s The Tempest opposite Roger Allam, and appeared in A Little Night Music at the Menier Chocolate Factory. She has also performed as Princess Katherine opposite Jude Law in Henry V and as Constanze in Amadeus at Chichester Festival Theatre. Born in Killarney and trained at RADA, Buckley’s artistic range and emotional depth have made her one of the most compelling performers working today.

Speaking about her connection to the region, Jessie shared:

“Norfolk is very different from where I grew up in Ireland but when I meet that black earth and realise that this land used to be underwater it does something to me! I love returning home to Norfolk… to a quiet, mysterious and deeply beautiful cinematic landscape that takes me somewhere I don’t ever expect. I’m proud to be a patron of Norfolk Screen, whose work is helping to spotlight this remarkable region and its growing appeal for film and TV production.”

Jessie’s passion for Norfolk’s landscapes, stories, and creative potential makes her an inspiring advocate for the region. Her support champions the county as a brilliant destination for film and television production, showcasing its locations, talent, and services.

We are honoured to welcome Jessie as a patron of Norfolk Screen.
